Mourning Geckos (Lepidodactylus
lugubris) are relatively small stout geckos (3-4 inches) found in
hawaii and ranging from Sri Lanka eastward through tropical Asia,
and across the Pacific to Mexico and Central America. They are an
all female species being parthenogenic (females lay genetic copies
of themselves without males) and are very prolific. These geckos
do very well in small colonies (5-7) and will show interesting behaviors
like tail flicking, chirping, and false coopulation. Starting with
just one gecko you can soon have an entire colony in just a few
months. Here is my mourning gecko who lays eggs like a little machine,
if your interested in getting one check out my available page. Enjoy!
